Discover the Artistic Journey of Saeede Mirshekar: 5 Powerful Insights from an Iranian Artist in Paris

My Roots in Iran

Where my artistic soul was born

I’m Saeede Mirshekar, born in 1984 in Bojnourd—a northern Iranian city deeply rooted in Persian tradition. From a young age, I was surrounded by the rich beauty of Iranian art, especially the intricate language of Persian carpets. These forms weren't just decorative—they told stories, held memories, and taught me that visual expression can carry spiritual and emotional meaning.

Living in Paris today, I bring those roots into everything I create. My art is not just influenced by my background—it’s powered by it.

Painter. Storyteller. Collector of Moments

From Bojnourd to Paris—art has always been my language

Academic Background

Design, discipline, and storytelling

I hold an M.A. in Carpet Designing, a field where structure, symmetry, and storytelling converge. That academic path taught me how to translate tradition into design language. I learned how repetition creates rhythm and how geometry expresses emotion. Even though I later moved into painting, my education still influences how I see the world—and how I compose each canvas.

My Painting Philosophy

Moments frozen in color

Painting gave me something no other medium could: freedom. While my training in carpet design was foundational, it was through painting that I found my personal voice.

My primary focus is floral still life. Flowers—especially in vases—symbolize for me the quiet tension between presence and impermanence. I try to freeze fragile moments and hold onto them through brushstroke, light, and texture. My goal isn’t perfection—it’s honesty. Every petal and shadow carries something deeper.

Living Between Cultures

East meets West on every canvas

My studio in Paris is a bridge between East and West. It’s where Persian heritage meets European experimentation. The result is art that lives in both worlds, and yet feels deeply personal.
I don’t want my paintings to just look beautiful—I want them to feel alive. When someone tells me my work gives them peace or sparks a memory, that’s when I know it’s doing its job.
